Celebrate 450

There’s no place better to be Sept. 4-8, than at the Celebrate 450 event in St. Augustine. The city is foregoing traditional birthday celebrations for a nine-day-long event featuring live music on multiple stages, fireworks, dance performances, a parade, reenactments, a street festival, a wine festival and so much more. The Celebrate 450 festival is a family-friendly event for St. Augustine lovers of all ages.

New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival

End the month of September with a bang at the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival on Sept. 25, 26 and 27, this year. The event will feature more than 20 bands, a kick-off party, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors and plenty of other activities for the entire family to enjoy. Events will take place at Flagler Avenue and the Canal Street Historic District on Saturday and at 3rd Avenue on Sunday. All events, aside from the kick-off party at the Flagler Tavern, are free and open to the public.

Market Fest at Laketown Wharf Resort

Market Fest at Laketown Wharf Resort is an event that’s taking place from June 1 to Sept. 7, this year. If you haven’t headed down to the Laketown Wharf Resort for the family-friendly games, farmers market, arts and crafts vendors, delicious food items and live entertainment, now is the perfect time to go. Visit the resort weekly on Monday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., to take part in the event.

Sturgis Party at Harley-Davidson of PCB

Panama City Beach is the place for all bikers to be on Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sturgis Party will feature a summer cookout with live rock music by “Sticky Tea,” and plenty of biker games to enjoy. If you can’t make it to the iconic Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this year, the Sturgis Party at Harley-Davidson of Panama City Beach is the next best option.

Summer’s End Outdoor Concert and Ice Cream Social

Cruise down to the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown for the Summer’s End Outdoor Concert and Ice Cream Social on Aug. 28, this year. The event, which takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., will feature the southern rock, country and blues band Georgia Clay, a concession stand and plenty of homemade ice cream to go around. Admission is just $5 per person and ice cream is an additional $3, so bring your friends and family to enjoy an evening of music and sweet treats in the sun.

Celebrate Independence Day in Panama City This Year

Panama City is the place to be for the Fourth of July this year. From barbecues at the campsite to unbeatable Independence Day festivities, the city is bustling with exciting events for all types of travelers. This delicious red, white and blue treat is the perfect way to kick off your Fourth of July celebrations, and several fireworks displays will ensure the summer holiday ends with a bang.

Red, White and Blue Strawberry Shortcake

What you’ll need:

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 conatiner frozen whipped topping, thawed (8 ounces)
  • 1 pint blueberries (rinsed and drained)
  • 2 pints freshstrawberries (rinsed and sliced)

Cooking instructions:

  1. Prepare your sponge cake according to the directions on the package.
  2. Bake the cake in a 9 by 13-inch baking pan.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  4. Frost your yellow cake with the thawed whipped topping.
  5. Arrange the blueberries in a small square in the upper left corner of the cake.
  6. Arrange the strawberries, so they look like the stripes of the American flag.
  7. Chill the cake until you’re ready to serve.

End the Day with Fireworks

After a festive dessert, you’ll be pleased to find a number of fireworks displays happening throughout the Panama City area. Enjoy the fireworks display over the water from Pier Park at the Star Spangled Fourth of July Spectacular, which is preceeded by live music and family-friendly fun throughout the day.

Other displays will be held at the Historic Grand Lagoon, the Panama City Marina, the city of Lynn Haven and Mexico Beach. Most of the events include activities before the spectacular fireworks displays, so you’ll want to head to your viewing area before dark to join in on the fun.

Visit the St. Andrews Waterfront Market on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Grand Lagoon Waterfront Market on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Lynn Haven Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., or the Bay County Farmers’ Market from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  A number of other markets are held throughout the Panama City area too, so you can shop straight from Florida farms every day of the week.

11th Annual Festival of Trees

The 2014 Panama City Festival of Trees starts Tuesday, Dec. 2, and extends through Friday, Dec. 5. Tons of holiday events, like Santa’s Pinewood Derby Race, Mother’s Morning Out and other family-friendly festivities, fill the Festival of Trees with fun and excitement for all ages. 28th Annual Christmas Boat Parade of Lights

We celebrate the holidays a little bit differently here in Florida, and that’s one of the best parts of being here for the month of December. The 28th Annual Christmas Boat Parade of Lights starts at the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club and continues passed downtown to the St. Andrews Marina. Stop by either of the two marinas for food, drinks, live music, Christmas markets and Santa sightings. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., but the events extend from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

7th Annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop

There’s no better place to bring in the new year than at Pier Park in Panama City Beach. Tons of family-friendly festivities start at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, including a family beach ball drop at 8 p.m., fireworks and live music leading up to the big beach ball drop at midnight.

Miami International Auto Show

The Miami International Auto Show will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida, 33139. Test drive the latest models, check out the newest Ferrari and Lamborghini models, take a gander at 20 classic cars at the Memory Lane exhibit, and even check out some of the coolest convertibles.

The show will run from Friday, November 7, 2014 through Sunday, November 16, 2014. The show opens at 5:00 p.m. on November 7; 11:00 a.m. on November 8 and 9; 2:00 p.m. on November 10; 11:00 a.m. November 11; 2:00 p.m. on November 12, 13 and 14; and 11:00 a.m. on November 15 and 16. The show closes at 11:00 p.m. on all nights except November 16, when it will close at 9:00 p.m.

Visit this festival to enjoy wine, seafood, crafters, artists, live music and a food and wine pairing seminar. The Delray Beach Wine and Seafood Festival features wines from the Sonoma and Napa Valleys. It will be held November 8 and 9, 2014 along Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.
