Fun Road Trip Games

While it may be the destination that inspired your road trip, it’s all of the stops and sights along the way that make the experience even more enjoyable. To keep your family and friends from getting bored on those long stretches between stops and during those long nights at the campsite, fill your road trip checklist with these exciting road trip games and boredom-fighting accessories.

Road Trip Bingo

Road trip bingo is the perfect road trip game for kids and adults, and it’s 100-percent free to play. Print off plenty of free bingo cards from online and give each player a pen or marker. Have everyone mark off the sites on their bingo card as you pass them, and be sure to keep prizes on hand for the winners. If you want to reuse the same cards multiple times, be sure you have hard surfaces for each player to use and plenty of pennies or other objects to mark the cards with.

Mad Libs

Take the “Worlds Greatest Word Game” on your next road trip to keep your driver and passengers laughing non-stop. Mad Libs are available as books, apps or downloads, so pick your favorite version and pack it in your RV.

The Autonet Mobile Router

Sick of excessive data charges on your cellphone bill and having to avoid primitive campgrounds because they don’t offer free WiFi? Pack the Autonet Mobile router, and you’ll have 4G wireless internet access anywhere in your RV whether you’re cruising down the road or parked at a campground. Even better, the signal travels as far as 150 feet, so you can share your internet access with friends or use it in a hotel room with your vehicle parked nearby.

Get Road Trip Ready at RV Connections

Before you hit the road for your trip, no matter how long the drive, stop by RV Connections to make sure that your rig is outfitted and in shape for the rigors of the road. RV Connections can help by inspecting the state of your RV, which is an especially good idea if it’s been in storage for a while.

Holiday Tips to Make Your Season Bright

Christmas Santa hat on snow

Starting to feel a little dragged down by the holidays? You’re not alone. Buying gifts for everyone, untangling the Christmas lights and cooking extravagant meals can certainly get the best of anyone. So why not simplify the holidays this year?

It may sound crazy to spend the holidays in your RV at first. How will you fit a Christmas tree in there? But by following a few simple tips, you can cut a lot of the stress out of the holidays and enjoy a very merry season on the road.

Decorate Locally

Because your RV is probably so much smaller than your “brick and mortar” home, you’ll love how easy it is to decorate. And don’t worry about packing all of your old decorations for the trip; pick up new ones along the way at craft shops and farmer’s markets. You’ll love that each decoration has its own unique story, and if you buy all-natural decorations, you won’t have to lug them around with you after the holidays.

Spend Less, Experience More

A small Christmas tree in your RV means less space underneath it, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The holidays are known as a time for shopping, but you don’t have space for more stuff in your home on wheels. Try buying experiences and memories instead. For instance, if you’re traveling near RV Connections in Panama City, Fla., buy tickets to the Shipwreck Island Water Park or the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium.

Make New Traditions

Many of the stresses of the holidays come from traditions. You’ve got to cook all of the same dishes that your great-grandma did, or the entire family will be upset. You’ve got to hang 1,000 lights, or the neighbors will be disappointed. This year, make new memories at the campground you’re visiting. Have a potluck with other campers or roast s’mores by the fire instead of baking pie.

Come See Us

Don’t forget to swing by RV Connections to check out all of our new and used RVs that are ready to hit the road for the holidays. And before you leave, be sure to tell us why you enjoy spending the holidays in your RV.

October Events in Florida Panhandle

rvconnections_octevents

The Florida Panhandle is busy in October, so fire up your RV and plan on attending some of these great events this month.

Pirates of the High Seas Fest – October 7-9 in Panama City Beach

Set sail for the long Columbus Day weekend by celebrating a different kind of marauding sea adventurers oh, yes, ahoy mates! With three days of fun lined up, families will be busy as they seek for treasure on a scavenger hunt, prepare for pirate invasions, take photos during the kids parade and ooh and ahh during the fireworks show.

Alligator Warrior Festival – Oct 14-16 in Lake City

Fun fact: Lake City was known as Alligator, Fla., in the early 1800s and its most famous resident was the Seminole commander, Alligator Warrior. In addition to celebrating the Native American people who made Florida their original home, this annual fest includes a reenactment of the 1836 battle of San Felasco Hammock, plus music, dancing, living-history camps, traders, craftsmen and food vendors.

Bellamy Bridge Ghost Walks – Oct 28-29 at Bellamy Bridge Heritage Trail

The restless spirit of Elizabeth Jane Croom Bellamy, who died in 1837, which accounts for numerous eyewitness tales of strange manifestations near the site of the Bellamy Bridge and proximity to Halloween, make late October’s annual Ghost Walks a spooky slam dunk. There are also the legends about a murdered moonshine runner and a headless driver that keep the spiritual lore alive. Reservations for the walks should be available starting in late September.

DIY RV Hacks You Need to Know

RVConnections_DIY-RV-Hacks

Living the RV lifestyle isn’t always easy. You’re forced to give up some of the luxuries you enjoy at home for a compact home on wheels. Although, you don’t have to have a massive Class A motorhome to enjoy your life on the road. These simple RV hacks will help ensure you and your fellow travelers are all happy campers.

1. Use a Towel Rod to Hold Bathroom Products in Place

Putting all of your bathroom products away before you hit the road can be difficult to remember, and those products can also crowd your small storage spaces. Screw a towel rod to the wall and place your products between the bar and the wall. They’ll stay organized and in place when you’re cruising down the road.

2. Use a Shoe Organizer for More Storage

Shoe organizers can hang from doors, walls, and they can even be cut to hang in compact places. They’re a perfect way to ensure your clothing, cleaning products and other supplies stay organized on the road without taking up your precious storage spaces.

3. Use Glow-in-the-Dark Tape on Your Entry Steps

Entry steps can be dangerous in the dark, but entry lights can be difficult and expensive to install. Place glow-in-the-dark tape on your steps, so you and your guests can easily avoid injury.

4. Save Free Condiments

When you’re living in a brick-and-mortar-home, you probably throw free condiments away. When you’re on the road in your RV, those extra ketchup, mustard and soy sauce packets can come in handy. They take up much less space than full-size bottles and are especially handy if your RV refrigerator is small.

5. Shop for RV Supplies at RV Connections

Our RV Connections online parts store is the perfect place to pick up all of the RV supplies you need to enjoy your RV lifestyle. Drop by RV Connections today for RV sales, service, parts, and accessories.
