Panama City is the perfect place for your family summer getaway. The city and its nearby areas are overflowing with zoos, aquariums, museums, arcades, water parks and everything your family needs to have an unforgettable getaway near the beach. The following are three family activities that you won’t want to miss in Panama City this summer.
Gulf World Marine Park
Head down to Panama City Beach and explore Gulf World Marine Park. This aquarium-like marine park offers an aquarium-like setting with even more fun to be had. Visitors can swim with the dolphins, feed the stingrays at Stingray Bay, watch sharks and turtles dine, enjoy an underwater scuba demonstration and so much more. Gulf World is open from 9:30 a.m., to 5:30 p.m., for the summer season.
Gator Beach is worth the 1-hour-long drive north along the coast from Panama City. This free alligator exhibit was created in May of 2002 to house roughly 80 live alligators. It’s the only free alligator exhibit in the area, and is one of the best places to feed the alligators, get a photo taken with a live alligator and enjoy a number of live gator shows. Gator Beach is located at Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar and Grill in Destin, which is a great place to grab a meal before or after your visit.
Panama City Beach’s Zoo World offers a one-of-a-kind zoo experience right here at the beach. Visitors can feed giraffes, alligators and get up-close-and-personal with lemurs. The zoo also features more than 200 animals, including tigers, peacocks, iguanas, parrots, a red tail boa, giraffes, monkeys and so many more. Admission is just $16.95 for adults, and the park is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
